Media Arts: Music Video Production – Term 04 2013

Self-reflection/evaluation:

Respond to each of the following dot points (using complete sentences or paragraphs). You should include as much detail as possible in your responses.

Teamwork during Pre-Production:

·      Describe any problems or difficulties your group encountered while developing your music video concept and deciding upon music;

·      We didn't experience many problems choosing the song, we found one quickly that we all agreed on. After that the problems we experienced were things like planning what days to film. Another problem we experienced was lack of organization like on the last day we had to film we hadn’t organized it and it turned out Monique couldn't film with us so we had to do it without her.

·      Explain whether your group effectively used the pre-production and planning templates prior to filming;

·      We worked on both of these for a few lesson and they really helped us with when it came to filming. We would keep it with us at all times so we could keep looking at it to keep us on track with the filming.

·      Describe whether your group made effective use of their time in class during pre-production. (Did each group member; contribute; have set tasks at all times; know their role in the group etc.)

·      We all made good use of the pre-production, we all put out ideas in towards the music video and agreed on all the ideas we each liked. Everyone contributed equally I think. We split up scenes equally to each work on.

·      List some steps your group could (or did) implement to improve in this area;

·      I think I group worked really well in this area and nothing should have changed.

Teamwork during Production and Post-Production:

·      Discuss how your group used storyboards, shot-lists and a shooting schedule to assist during the filming making process;

·      We always had these things on us during filming so we could follow them so that we didn't lose track or make any mistakes in filming.

·      Did your group experience any organisational issues during filming, (i.e. members who were absent or did not contribute; finding suitable times to film; forgetting shot-lists, costumes; not booking equipment etc.) How did you manage or work around these difficulties?

·      We did experience a few, on the last day we had to film Monique was unable to come due to all of us having lack of organization for when to film. So we had to film a few scenes without her but we managed with out her.

·      Describe any problems or difficulties you encountered during post-production and editing. These may include; technical difficulties, corrupt or missing files, group related issues. etc;

·      We didn't really have very many technical difficulties that I can remember.

·      Did your group complete all shots as detailed in your planning?

·      Yes we followed the planning sheet very carefully throughout the whole filming stage.

Discuss your individual feelings about the Music Video Task:

·      Are you group satisfied with the final result?

·      I actually had a lot of fun with the task and its most probably one of the most fun tasks we have done in creative media. And I am really happy with out final result, it tuned out better than I expected.

·      Would like to change any aspects of your music video or its original concept?

·      No I think everything tuned out better than enyone expected. We did experience a few editing issues. And if I could change one thing it may be the rapping at the beginning and end. That didn't turn out as effective as we  were hoping.

·      If you could start the project again what would you do differently?

·      The rapping scenes, and I would organize which days we would film on better.

·      Was it easier planning, filming and managing your time during this project than your first film? Why?

·      Yes it was. Our last film wasn't very organize or very good so I think we all learnt from that and planned it better from the start so that it would all work out better than last time.

·      Did your treatment accurately reflect your video or were the substantial differences between the concept and final product?

·      Yes. The treatment was one of the most important things we did. If we didn't have that everything would have been a mess. The treatment was what made us oganised.

So far we have fully planned our video clip and done all the shot lists and story boards. Now Milly, Makenzie, Monique and I are just trying to figure out when we are going to film, we have decided we will go to Milly's house for two after noons this week and next week to film.

Media idea:

·      A psychotic woman enters a school, killing students and teachers because of her past. The woman (femme fatale) becomes involved with the married detective on the case, so she can’t get caught. The femme fatale doesn’t realize that the detective is actually bad as well...

Title of movie:

·      The past poisons the present

·      The present past

Plot- introduction:

·      As she’s walking into the school, she has flashbacks of her when she was little being bullied and her parents not caring.

·      She is wearing black clothes and a black mask.

·      Walks into a classroom and shoots a kid with sirens, alarms and screaming in background.

·      Title of movie

·      Femme fatale smoking in her house, when the detective shows up at her house as she lives in the area, asking if she has seen anything.

·      She flirts with him and he gives her his number to call ‘in case she sees anything’.

·      The femme fatale finds out that the detective actually has been in jail for homicide ages ago and has changed identity.

·      We see that the femme fatale is actually not mean she’s nice she’s just very troubled from her past and thinks that giving payback to other kids will make her feel better.

·      The introduction ends with the femme fatal in shock and leaves them wanting to watch more.
